Wisdom of teams (part 2)

In my previous post I was talking about team members that are hesitating to speak up because of wrong assumptions. There is also another end, people that need to learn to shut up. People that are dominant and make other people afraid to talk. It sounds like a bad attittude but often these people have no intention of enforcing their opinion. They just want to add information to the pool and do not realize they are doing much more than that.

Self knowledge and knowledge of how you are perceived by others helps. What also helps is acting based on your hierarchical position. The ratio of listining versus speaking should be proportional to your position in an organisation. Counterintuitive because speaking up probably got you this position in the first place.
