New firefox extension: TamperData

Sunday 21 October 2007

If you are serious about web development you need something that allows you to view  your browser requests and responses to and from a webserver. COuple of years ago your only options was proxy servers made specifically for that purpose or packet sniffers like tcpdump. When Firefox you can use extensions, I used LiveHttpHeaders. This weekend I stumbled upon the Firefox extension Tamper Data. Tamper Data has a well designed user interface that tracks and shows your requests to a webserver and the responses as they come in.  It does https and it even allows you to tamper with the request before you send it or with the response before it is interpreted. Great for all those encoding, cookie and other problems related to http headers.
